As the COVID-19 pandemic recedes and districts hone their recovery efforts, how stressed are superintendents? What are the reasons? To find out, researchers surveyed more than 220 school district leaders in spring 2023.

RAND has partnered with MGT to provide free online access to Bento for select American Educator and School District Panel surveys. Bento allows users to compare survey results by district characteristics (e.g., size, urban/rural, or socioeconomic status), compare data across years, and export visualizations for reports.

The data is updated after each survey (typically in March for the fall survey and August for the spring survey). Here’s a snapshot from the tool looking at survey data from the fall 2023 and fall 2024 surveys:
